Applying Analysts

May 2013

Santa Fe, New Mexico

Dear Analyst,

On behalf of the Membership Committee, I would like to thank you for your interest in the Inter-Regional Society of Jungian Analysts and briefly describe our process for getting to know, admitting, and welcoming new analysts into the Society.

The Inter-Regional began as a temporary Institute, designed to provide training opportunities to individuals in the United States and Canada who lived prohibitively far from any existing Jungian Institutes.  Rather than fulfilling its temporary mandate and fading away, as had been anticipated, Inter-Regional has grown to be the largest institute in the United States.  We currently have over 200 members, nine regional training centers and fifty-one candidates in training. Despite our size, we have many opportunities to work closely with colleagues and candidates-in-training. Our membership consists of analysts trained in a variety of U.S. and European Institutes, bringing a wealth of talent crossing a wide theoretical spectrum.  We welcome and are enriched by this diversity.

To learn more about our history and organization, please refer to the Orientation to the IRSJA for Analysts Applying for Membership   and the IRSJA Organizational Flow Chart for Analysts Applying for Membership .

The Membership Committee was established to facilitate the process of admitting and welcoming new analysts into the Society.  The Membership Committee devised the Application Procedures for Analysts Applying for Membership not only to streamline the process of admission, but to provide a way for us to orient analysts to our Society.  We see these procedures as a means of welcoming new members and giving them a few familiar faces to begin their integration into the larger group.  Many who have joined Inter-Regional in recent years have expressed appreciation for this process and have felt welcomed by it.

The first step in applying for membership is to let me know of your interest (via e-mail or telephone) and to send me a number of written documents.  A complete list of the paper work requirement is provided in the Application Procedures for Analysts Applying for Membership.  It includes deadlines, fees for application and a Release of Information Form for Analysts Applying for Membership,  which we ask you to sign so that we can document your diploma and membership in good standing in other Institutes.

In addition to the paperwork requirement, we also ask that you attend two meetings of the Society.  At the first of those meetings, we’ll schedule a meeting with you and the Membership Committee, ask you to introduce yourself briefly to the Society and to attend a luncheon with other analysts applying for membership. At the second meeting, you will again be introduced to the Society and will be asked to attend a second luncheon with other applying analysts.
When all requirements are met, the Membership Committee recommends your acceptance to the Society and a vote is taken. Upon acceptance as a member, you will be asked to sign a waiver.  (See Waiver Form for Analysts Applying for Membership)

Again, thank you for your interest in the Inter-Regional Society.  I am happy to answer any questions you may have about applying for membership and look forward to meeting you personally.

Sincerely,

Jacqueline Zeller Levine
