| Letter from Director of Training |
November, 2011Greetings, Thank you for your interest in our analytic training program. I hope that you find here what you need to know about our Society and our training program. If you have a particular question or concern, I invite you to contact me at mw4311@q.com Sincerely, Medora Woods, M.A., J.D. IRSJA Analyst Training Program Training in the Inter-Regional Society offers candidates a rich and varied experience. Our candidates and analysts live and work throughout North America and gather together for a spring and fall meeting. Also, our candidates participate in monthly local seminars. The heart of the training experience however, is continuing participation in one’s personal analysis. Most of our local seminars meet monthly, Friday through Sunday. Each weekend seminar consists of classes, lectures, workshops, and case colloquia. Because of the individual nature of each seminar, they represent a variety of perspectives on Analytical Psychology. Descriptions of each seminar, its philosophy, program and faculty are listed under IRSJA Local Training Seminars. There are eight seminars located in Denver, Florida, Memphis, Minneapolis - St. Paul, New Orleans, Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, and Texas. The training itself consists of two phases. In the candidacy phase, in addition to participation in a monthly seminar, candidates attend biannual meetings where seminars, case colloquia, and lectures are given for the entire Society. These meetings provide a rich academic, clinical, and interpersonal atmosphere. The candidacy phase concludes with the passage of five oral exams. In the control phase, the candidate enters into a process of intensive supervision as well as participation in a monthly case colloquium. Control candidates continue to participate in the biannual meetings. At the end of this phase of training, each candidate is examined on five cases and must present a thesis. Analytic training in the Inter-Regional is a post-graduate program that is inter-disciplinary in its approach. For details of the program in depth, The Training Manual is online. |
